A popular argument that is used as evidence for the existence of the Creator God is what is called the ‘anthropic principle’. The word ‘anthropic’ comes from the Greek word anthropos, which means ‘human’. The anthropic principle suggests that the universe seems deliberately designed in such a way as to enable human life to exist on Earth. Since deliberate design implies a designer, the universe that seems deliberately designed for human life to exist on Earth points to the existence of a Designer of the universe—the transcendent Creator God.
The veracity of the anthropic principle is clearly and abundantly evident from everything in and around us, in the external world as well as inside ourselves. The universe has every single item that we need, not only to survive but also to flourish and create a civilization—from the air that we need to breath and a brain that we need in order to think to the many different types of metals hidden below the earth’s surface that we use to make things and soil for growing the food we need to satisfy our hunger. Not one of these many things that we require in order to live and flourish have we humans created ourselves. Rather, they have all been given to us. While some of these things have been provided to us in an immediately usable form (such as the air we breathe or wild fruits), other things, like petroleum or iron ore, have been given to us in the form of raw material that we need to work on and process in order to bring out their hidden potential.

The existence in the world of everything that humans need to not just survive but also to thrive, as well as the fact that none of these things was brought into being by humans themselves, clearly indicates that the world and all that it contains is the handiwork of someone else—an immensely intelligent and powerful being who cares for humans and their needs and who has abundantly provided for these needs to be met. That someone else is the Creator God, who brought the entire universe—including human beings and all that they need in order to live and thrive during their stay on Earth—into existence. The prior existence in this world of everything that human beings require for life, none of which human beings brought into being themselves, is clear evidence of the existence of the transcendent, all-powerful and loving Creator Who loves His creation so much that He has arranged for every single thing that His creatures need while they are on Earth. This holds true not just for human beings but also for all the other hundreds of thousands of species that also live on this planet.

Not only has the Creator created everything that we need in order to survive in this world, He has also made every such thing in the manner that is most suitable for us. Here’s an interesting point to consider in this regard: Water and air are two things that are absolutely necessary for our survival. We couldn’t live for more than a few seconds if we were denied air to breathe, and we might be able to live only for a few days, at the very most, without water. The same is true for many other creatures. In His wisdom, the Creator has made both air and water abundantly available on Earth for humans (and other species) to access.
An interesting feature of both air and water in their pure form is that they have no smell and no taste. But imagine if they did have a particular smell or taste. Given that we humans have very varied, as well as very strong, likes and dislikes with regard to the smell and taste of things, only those people who liked the smell or taste of air and water would find breathing air and drinking water easy, something that they would be able to do without any hesitation at all. But the rest of us, who just didn’t like the taste or smell of air and water, would find breathing air and consuming water such a nauseating experience that remaining alive for even a few moments might become very difficult, if not completely impossible! Even if we did force ourselves to breathe and drink, our life would be a terrible torture. We might have preferred to die than to have to breathe in air every moment the smell of which we detested, or to have to drink water every couple of hours the taste of which we found foul.
Luckily for us though, air and water, in their pure form, are completely tasteless and odourless—because of which everyone, no matter what their likes and dislikes with regard to taste and smell, can consume them with equal ease. In His wisdom and mercy, the Creator made the air and the water that He knew we needed in order to survive and thrive odourless and tasteless, and so, all of us, who have very diverse likes and dislikes as far as odours and tastes are concerned, can consume them equally conveniently.
The existence of the air and the water that are absolutely vital for us to exist, as well as their being, in their pure form, odourless and tasteless, are evidence enough for the existence of the wise, powerful and loving Creator God, who not only has given us all the things that we need to live and thrive while we are on Earth but has also designed them in just the manner that is best suited to us.

Ah, Baselos does an excellent job of reminding those of us who have a tendency to take the blessings of life for granted just how much we are indebted to (and dependent upon) our loving Creator!
