But Why These Questions Should I Ask?

This day is fast rushing on,

Soon, it’ll be another dawn

(That is, if You so ordain

This world to still remain),

And so, yet again, maybe,

A new day I’ll get to see.

How will this new day fare?

Will I some past wrong repair,

Being and doing better more,

Or, simply as the day before?

Will I spend the day as I should,

Doing my best and some good?

Or, as it races past in haste,

Will I let it just go waste?

How will its moments unfold?

What great secrets as yet untold

Might its decreed hours contain,

Of joy, hope, fear and pain?

But why these questions do I ask?

What if this all is just not my task,

And You’ve already passed a decree

For exactly how the day must be?

In which case, the best I can do

Is watch it unravel as it has to.
