Could It Perhaps Be?

Pardon me here for any lapse,
But I think it could be perhaps
That You witness Yourself play
In all we appear to think and say
And in every action we seem to do:
Maybe all of it’s done just by You,
You performing every single deed,
Being the Sole Performer indeed,
Acting through each being and thing,
Through everything that’s existing,
These all being forms You’ve donned
For the drama that You’ve performed
Ever since that distant first day
When this game You decided to play,
To amuse Yourself in sheer delight,
Displaying thus Your awesome might
By manifesting as the vast universe,
As everything in it that’s so diverse,
Every hill, stream, tree and stone
Being nothing but just You alone,
Each human, and beast and bird, too,
Being simply different forms of You,
You appearing as creatures of every kind
And acting through every body and mind,
And so, every action that they seem to do
Is actually done by none other than You,
You doing through them what You please
In this drama that might never cease
Until perhaps finally, one day
You’ll tire of this way to play
And a new pastime You’ll invent,
To amuse Yourself a game different,
Maybe bored of repeating the same,
You’ll decide to devise a new game!
