Deep in a Charlatan’s Trap

Deep they fell into a charlatan’s trap

Blindly believing all his noxious crap.

Divine powers he said he possessed,

So, firm faith in him they confessed.

Oh how them did he fully beguile,

That clever conman, foul and vile!

To them I said, “Please, dear folks,

See through this truly horrid hoax.

Ethics and logic your beliefs defy,

Reason’s test they don’t satisfy:

A sure sign this is that they are

False, absurd, simply bizarre.

“These beliefs to which you cling,

Whose so-called glories you sing,

Are all a human creation mere,

To me this is plain and clear.

I’ll call a spade just as a spade:

These dogmas are all manmade.

Use, please, your God-given mind,

Their falseness you may then find.

“Your life don’t ruin in this way,

Trapped under falsehood’s sway,

Harming yourselves, others too,

Is what you are being led to do.

Cast off this shackle that you bear

If for your good you really care.”
