I Don’t Quite Suppose

I don’t quite suppose

That I willingly chose

To be thus confined

To this body-mind

And also to appear

As a mortal mere

On Earth, pale blue dot.

No, I should think not!

But, I can’t for sure say

How I became this way

And found myself to be

Thought of as being ‘me’,

Set from the rest apart

From the very start.

Although I don’t know,

Perhaps I’m not truly so

And what I see as ‘I’

Is a myth or sheer lie

And all there may be

Is just and only He

But this we don’t realise

Till we see through the guise

Of names and forms diverse

That populate the universe

That He dons as per His ‘whim’,

With these all being just Him.

If that’s so, then who am ‘I’?

‘I’ won’t say, for how can ‘I’?

If ‘I’ don’t exist, all being He,

Can there at all be any 'me'?
