I Feel Disgusted When I Think…

I feel disgusted when I think
Of the depths to which some men sink,
Claiming to be sent specially by You
To tell others what to believe and do.
Your chosen ones they pose to be,
Your messengers to humanity,
Insisting that others blindly obey
All that they order, whatever they say,
Declaring that everyone should know
That You've supposedly decreed it so.
With this is their constant refrain:
“You’ll get to face terrible pain
In Hell’s fire, where you’ll burn,
If our claims you dare to spurn
And don’t do as we command
And yield to our every demand.”
In addition, they boastfully state:
“If you want to enjoy a blessed fate
For all time to come after you die,
In God’s own home, up in the sky,
Where you'll indulge in every pleasure,
In great abundance, beyond all measure,
Then accept as true all that we teach
And abide fully by all that we preach.”
Uncountable people they enslaved
By their false teachings, utterly depraved.
Unknown millions have fallen prey
Down through history, even today,
To these charlatans, crafty and vile,
Who make so bold as to defile
Your Name by such blatant lies
Concealed in seemingly 'noble' guise.
By claiming to speak in Your Name,
They won power, wealth and fame.
Evil agendas they sought to pursue
By lying they were blessed by You.
What awful deeds, what heinous crimes,
Over centuries, even in our own times,
Deceiving in Your name shamelessly,
A graver sin there can hardly be.
Unspeakable horrors, mass misery:
This is the sum total of their 'legacy'.
