Let’s Watch His Play

Maybe all deeds are His to do,

How and when as He wills to.

If that’s so, then what’s for us?

It’s watching it all with no fuss.

It’s only for two days or four,

Or perhaps just a little more,

So, it's not too long, I would say,

To have to watch Him at His play.

For us it’s just a drama brief,

Soon will come welcome relief,

For, how could we ever bear

(I, for one, just wouldn’t dare)

To watch a drama that has no end

When we've other things to attend?

The Playwright might order you

To assume a role, or maybe two,

Or perhaps more, whatever it be

That for you He might decree.

His this offer we can’t decline,

It’s good for us, let us opine.

It’s all for our very own best,

So wise folks to us suggest.

To play our roles He’ll us compel,

Since that’s so, we might as well

Accept them all with good cheer.

It’s only for a brief time, my dear,

Not a second too long will it last,

Soon it will join the distant past.

Our part to play will swiftly go,

This, of course, we well know,

For nothing here will endure,

Of this truth we’re most sure.

So, let’s play our part well,

This is what wise folks tell.

If in this we face some pain,

Rejection, scorn and disdain,

And troubles of other sort

With which life is fraught,

In knowing this let’s be glad

That release will soon be had.

It’s most good that He made it thus,

So, let’s watch His drama with no fuss.
