Oh, Do Please Tell Me If I Am Right!

What, I wonder, made You decide
To make this world over which You preside?
With what great zeal and mighty zest
Did You decide You should manifest
Yourself as this universe so vast,
Repeating a cycle from eternity past:
One after another universes You make,
Their form You Yourself do take:
There must be a good reason why:
Will You please my curiosity satisfy?
The only reason, so it seems to me,
That might possess some plausibility,
Is that You do all this just for fun,
Besides this, maybe there’s reason none.
If You didn’t enjoy it, why would You
Such a stupendous thing ever do?
Maybe it was for sheer joy’s sake
That this great task You did undertake.
It must, I suppose, give You great mirth
Universe after universe to thus give birth,
Delighting in seeing them come and go:
Oh how all this must please You so!
Like a child sending bubbles into the air,
Reveling in its play with not a care!
Maybe, then, it’s only a prank that You play,
A joke with Yourself to laugh time away,
A pastime in which You greatly delight.
Oh, do please tell me if I am right!
