This Secret That You Keep Carefully Concealed

From the daily news it might appear
That Your world’s a torture chamber,
A madhouse, full of people insane,
Drowned in hate, strife and pain.
Be that as it may, I’m really sure
You made it for something more,
More than that which meets the eye,
And You alone know the reason why.
There must, for sure, be a purpose grand,
But which we don’t seem to understand,
Why such a world You decided to make,
This most baffling venture to undertake,
Wherein there’d be so much sorrow.
The reason You did so only You know,
On our own it we can’t ever learn,
We simply aren’t able to discern.
No matter how much we may try
We can’t fathom the reason why
This world You made in this way.
Why You did so You alone can say.
This secret You keep carefully concealed.
But one day maybe it’ll be revealed,
If and when You choose to satisfy
Our desperate urge to know why.
