O God, in religion’s name what abundant hate!

Is this what You decreed to be mankind’s fate?

In religion’s name, what evil men believe and do!

I refuse to accept all of this could be from You.

On this grave matter, lately I’ve thought a lot,

And discovered this barbarity from You is clearly not.

Instead, it seems clear, the cause of this contagion

Lies deep within what's called ‘organised religion’.

So, such religion we must now finally transcend,

This being an urgent task to which we must attend.

We can relate with You directly, without religion in the way.

May You make us realise this soon, without delay.

And if and when this happens, no longer can it be

That religion can be wielded to torment humanity.

So, into a post-religious world, O God, now us You lead.

This, You know better than us, is today our crying need.

Lead us to direct communion, O God, between us and You,

Unmediated by belief systems, including organised religion too.
