What Reason Can We Give?

I don’t know what reason we can give
For being on Earth, here having to live.
Did we ourselves to come here demand,
Or is it that we’re here at Your command?
The reason for this is for us unknown,
The one who knows it is You alone.
Only if You’d tell us this can we learn,
Else on our own we just can’t discern.
It’s pointless for us folks to speculate
About why this came to be as our fate,
The reason on Earth we arrived and are,
An unfathomable mystery, most bizarre.
No matter how advanced science may get,
This one curiosity just can’t ever be met
Through our efforts, to be able to know
The reason why this all came to be so.
Not even the most brilliant human mind
Can with its own striving this reason find.
It’s a secret that to Yourself You've kept,
So, the best we can do is simply accept
That a great mystery it’s decreed to remain
Until perhaps You might decide to ordain
That this what You’ve kept so long concealed
Should to us mere mortals be finally revealed.
You might want to do this, maybe You don’t,
Maybe You’ll tell us, but maybe You won’t.
You do what You like, but I’ll appreciate
If to us mere mortals this reason You’ll state.
