You Must, You Really Must!

How many years for me are still in store?

Maybe ten or fifteen, perhaps a few more?

Whatever time it is that may now remain,

However longer me on Earth You’ll detain,

May I now hand all of it fully over to You,

For You to do with it as it may please You to.

For long my life I’ve led just as per my mind,

But now I request You to please be so kind

As to relieve me of this great burden I bore,

I don’t want to carry it, not a moment more,

For, my poor mind, what can it really know?

It’s bound to slip and err, for You made it so.

So, to You now my time that’s left I hand,

Why I’m doing this You fully understand.

You have to take it, it’s Your responsibility,

Please accept it, in Your bounteous charity.

You must, for it’s You who placed me here,

I say all this to You without a tinge of fear.

These words of mine I know You’ve well heard,

But with this my request have You concurred?
