A Different View

From the very moment on

When on Earth we are born,

Marking our lifetime’s start,

We travel ahead until we depart,

Rushing towards death’s embrace,

The Great Unknown in order to face.

When this basic fact we’ll know:

That very soon we’ll have to go,

Maybe we’ll view our life anew,

Different from what we’re used to:

As a short time, a few days at most,

Till at last we’ll give up the ghost,

A period allotted for us to spend

On Earth, this task to attend:

To be and to do our very best,

With passion, zeal and zest,

So that when death’ll finally arrive,

Ending thus our being here alive,

The person we have by then become

And the record of deeds we have done

May make it worth our having been here,

To spend this period of a few days mere.
