A Task for Ourselves to Undertake

We’ll have soon to be on our own,

And then journey ahead all alone.

Alone we came, alone we’ll go:

For all sentient beings this is so.

While we are here, it’s nice to be

In other folks’ delightful company.

Together we can grow and learn,

Helping thus each other in turn.

Not for a moment can we survive,

Leave alone prosper and thrive,

Without the help that others give,

This being essential in order to live.

Interdependence of beings diverse

Is a basic law of the whole universe.

While we’re here we must inter-relate,

Yet, each is responsible for their own fate.

That’s something each of us must do,

Because no one else can do it for you.

We alone our life a success can make,

It’s a task for ourselves to undertake.

Take it seriously, for on it will depend

How our future unfolds, without any end.
