Arriving at Death’s Bend

Do we come to a firm, final end

When we arrive at death’s bend?

Does the ‘I’ we think is now alive

Still remain and somehow survive,

Or is it then exposed, at last revealed,

To’ve been a myth that was concealed,

A non-entity most precious we thought

Proven now to’ve been a mere naught

And on death being shown only to be

A shadow that appeared as you and me,

Characters populating a fleeting dream:

Non-existent, yet how real they seem!?
