Each Other’s Consort!

This Your world: did You curse or bless?

I just don’t know; nor, too, can I guess.

Here there’s joy, and there’s also woe,

These two always together seem to go,

Inseparable, and never the twain apart,

Maybe this was so from the very start,

And maybe so it'll remain till the end,

Each being the other’s intimate friend.

Here, one being lives on another one,

Across the world, this is how it’s done,

And all so that each can then survive,

Without this, they can’t remain alive.

Terrible trauma and much awful pain,

Enough to drive anyone fully insane,

Abundant there is on this Earth here,

That’s filled with hate, panic and fear.

But this truth I must now also tell:

Here there’s love and joy as well,

And much goodness in every heart

That simply refuses to ever depart.

Though evil might appear so strong,

And there seems to be much wrong,

In this Your world, in every little place,

There’s goodness, too, with Your grace.

Inseparable twins these seem to be:

Good and evil—so it seems to me.

This might then perhaps indicate

A mystery, blurred yet very great.

If it wasn’t so, why, I ask, would You

Such a very strange thing decide to do

As to make a world of this seemingly odd sort,

Where good and evil are each other’s consort?
