Equally Precious

Ah how foolish is this their empty boast:

That You love and favour Man the most,

As if this to them You have clearly said,

Oh the lies that in Your name they spread!

They claim that for Man’s sake You made

All other beings that are on Earth displayed,

And that Man over them You placed to reign,

To do as He pleases, even inflict great pain,

To enslave and maim, to hunt, kill and eat,

To conquer them all in a gruesome defeat.

And, moreover, these folks also declare

That it is Man alone who can ever dare

Know who You are and to Your Home go,

This they loudly insist they for sure know.

All other species, millions though there are,

From ‘salvation’ they say You firmly debar,

Oh how they trumpet this most sinister lie

That it is only humans who when they die

Can return to You, from Whom they came,

Saying for all others it just is not the same.

My own opinion please now let me share:

For all beings I am sure You equally care,

So, all species You placed on Earth here

Are in Your vision equally good and dear,

Be it a human, a tiger, a hyena or a pig,

A bush, a tree, a mountain, small or big,

A gnat or a worm, a polar bear or a fly,

Or a brave eagle in the sky soaring high.

And to add to this, I must also say to You,

That somehow to me it seems to be true

That all beings there are on land, air or sea,

The millions of species that on Earth may be,

Are You Yourself, so we must come to know,

And thus equally precious, because this is so.
