From This Bit of Heaven I’ll Have to Soon Depart

I wish I could stay on longer, I really wish I could,

This place is so beautiful, and here I feel so good.

The forested mountains, the soft and cool breeze,

Giant butterflies flitting about where they please,

Crickets, frogs, and colourful beetles on their wing,

And the little birds that such lovely hymns sing.

No cars dare come here, no traffic at all in sight,

It’s Heaven on Earth almost, a truly great delight.

Although this all is so, one fact I well know,

That soon from this place I must have to go,

Go back to The City, Hell on Earth you could say,

For, in this lovely place I just can’t forever stay.

I have to return to the city 20 million call as home,

On the clogged roads of which 10 million cars roam.

I don’t want to go back there, but what can I say?

The fate I’ve carved for myself must have its way.

So, from this bit of Heaven I’ll have to soon depart,

Doing so, of course, with a heavily burdened heart.

But though that may be so, I won’t yield to despair,

For I know You, Earth’s Owner, are eminently fair.

You alone know the place that’s the best for me

At every passing moment of my life’s journey.

So, where on Your Earth, so very vast and wide,

I must be and when it’s You who must decide.

You kindly brought me to this delightful place,

Bless me please again with Your abundant grace

And after death send me somewhere better still.

I request You to please do so; I hope that You will.
