Is it True What These Wise Folks Say?

Is this what it’s really all about:

A script You wrote to act it out,

Donning these uncountable forms,

Which each its own role performs

In this world-play that You stage,

Engaged thus from age to age,

Ever since Space-Time You did invent

And into it You began Your descent,

And even now, and henceforth, too,

All roles therein played just by You,

You Your own play thus enact,

Though we don’t know this as fact,

For to us it doesn’t at all seem so,

Because this truth we fail to know,

But some beings blessed and wise

Call upon us to please realise

That all forms varied that appear

Are just a trick or illusion mere,

And this secret to us they confide,

That it’s You alone, and none beside?

Is it true what these wise folks say,

That it’s You staging Your own play?

I feel and hope they aren’t wrong,

And that it’s been just so all along!
