Oh How Swiftly Time Rushes On!

Oh how swiftly time rushes on!

Sixty years nearly have so soon gone!

How many, I wonder, remain in store?

Not, I suppose, very many more!

The time that till now I had got:

Did I use it wisely enough or not?

In some good thing did I excel?

Have I lived worthily and well?

And with the time that may remain

For me now on this earthly plane,

What all might I be led to do?

I hand this matter over to You,

To You who brought me here:

You handle this affair, my Dear,

So that my time left is spent best

And I may receive my eternal rest.
