Tell Me, Please, Why Waste Your Life?

Tell me, please, why waste your life
In hate and war and foolish strife?
At the end of it, what will you gain
But deep anguish and searing pain
And of negative deeds a heavy score,
Other than these what else more?
What we do, to us it returns,
The same it is that one earns.
The seeds of hate if one sows,
Then from Earth when one goes,
One’ll face the same in consequence,
A painful fate as just recompense
(So, as many wise people have said,
Happens when such folks are dead).
If of this one fact we are aware,
Of our deeds we might take care,
Spending on Earth our short lifespan
In the best manner that we can,
By being, and also by doing, good,
Because this one has understood:
What we do, the same we’ll get.
This basic law we mustn’t forget.
