The Moment You and I Get to Meet

With the end of my earthly stay,

From here I'll be taken away.

And if what they say is true,

I’ll have to appear before You,

To receive the judgment that You'll give

For how my life on Earth I did live.

What, Lord, will You to me then say?

Will You even care to glance my way?

Oh, I think I might faint and collapse,

Maybe I'll die again, if I can, perhaps.

The agony I've no idea how I’ll face

As You go about deciding my case,

Not knowing what You'll decree

Should be the eternal fate for me.

Lord, what a great relief it would be

If this awful torment You'll spare me,

And, saving me from this grave dread,

You'll arrange for the following instead:

The moment that we two get to meet,

At Your great, grand Judgment Seat,

Right then, without a second’s delay,

You'll laugh aloud and heartily say,

“Oh how very nice that you're here!

You’ve now no cause for misery or fear,

For all eternity with Me you’ll now be,

Never will I let you go away from Me.”

And then, blessing me with Your grace,

You’ll hold me in close, deep embrace,

And in less than a micro-moment mere

In Yourself You'll cause me to disappear,

And thereafter I will forever cease to be,

Having fully dissolved in You, irrevocably!
