Life’s very short, and soon it will be
The end of the sojourn here for me.
This being the case, I think, therefore,
That the time that may remain more
Of this my decreed brief earthly stay
I should spend in the very best way:
Being the best, doing the best, too,
So that later on, I won’t have to rue
That I squandered it, and all just in vain,
Precious moments that won’t come again.
Â
How I must do this I think I do know,
This seems to be the way I must go:
I must follow the Inner Voice’s lead,
And its guidance I must carefully heed,
Using each moment as it says I should:
This way seems clearly to be most good,
For it's You who speaks in the Inner Voice.
Aha! So this being so, let me now rejoice,
For in this I've found the simplest, surest way
To make the best of what remains of my stay:
Listening to You, Lord, speaking within to me,
And then spending each moment accordingly!
