The Only Way to Be (Somewhat) Sane?

Responding in the way most wise

To situations as they come to arise,

Unfazed by both joy and pain,

And also, by loss and by gain,

By praise; so, too, by blame,

By ignominy and by acclaim,

By love, and also by hate,

By whatever is in our fate,

Giving thanks in states all,

No matter what may befall,

Grateful for what the moment may bring,

(Which could be just about anything),

Knowing therein must be some good

(Even if it's not clearly understood),

And so, responding with gratitude.

Maybe it’s only with this attitude

That I can manage to move ahead

With some sanity till I fall dead.
