Truly, Most Grateful I Should Be

Finally, You issued Your decree
From their creeds to set me free!
My thanks to You I can’t express,
All words together might still be less,
For, had this You not so ordained,
In dark misery I would’ve remained,
Shackled by chains of false belief,
But then You sent this timely relief!
Foolishly, their creeds I did confess,
My life turned then into a giant mess,
But mercifully, You willed to intervene,
Else, how awful my life would've been,
Like those of many who proudly claim
Each about their own creed the same:
That among all creeds it is the best,
And surpasses by far all of the rest,
Drawn from books they have read,
Declaring it’s what You have said,
Insisting their beliefs alone are true,
The only path to connect with You,
The single way You can be pleased,
Branding all others as vile, diseased.
Vast millions such creeds defend,
From childhood till their very end,
Made from early on to thus believe
The lies that they foolishly conceive,
Robbing them of the freedom to think,
To depths lowest making them sink.
Could there be anything that's worse
Than living under such a heavy curse?
You forbade me to be more deceived,
So ,from this madness I was relieved,
Rescuing me before it was too late,
Overturning the course of my fate.
Most grateful to You I should be
For this favour You've done for me.
More than this now what can I say?
Keep me blessedly creedless, I pray.
