Unfathomable Mysteries!

Struggling souls we all are

In a world that seems bizarre,

From where we came, where we’ll go,

This can we claim we really know?

And then also, what is more,

We can’t really say for sure,

The purpose of our being here,

To spend just a short time mere.

Yet, even so, theories abound,

Some banal, some profound,

Each of which claims to be

The answer to all this mystery.

Their champions loudly proclaim

(While others they roundly blame),

Their theory alone’s true and right,

And so engage in ceaseless fight,

Going, sometimes, even to war,

Today, too, as since long before,

Causing havoc, great loss of life,

All because of their foolish strife,

Refusing this fact to recognize:

What they claim might just be lies,

For the truth, simple and plain,

Clear to anyone reasonably sane,

Is that much of what they all say

Just can’t be proven in any way.

This being so, it might be best

If their claims they’d set at rest

And accept what maybe a basic fact:

That these mysteries remain intact,

From us being carefully concealed,

And only on death might be revealed.
