The perennial question: ‘Who am I?’
We each eagerly seek to satisfy.
You say I’m a man, but I won’t agree,
For the plain fact is that I’m just me.
I’m not this body that you can see,
And that you mistake me to be.
I’m not this physical mass as such,
This bag of bones that you can touch.
The real me’s the Soul, a spark of the Divine,
And so what you think I am please redefine.
The body may have a gender, but not so the Soul,
Being a spark of the Divine pervading the Whole
And having no gender, not woman, nor man,
Try to fathom this truth if you possibly can.
Who I am is the genderless Soul, and so,
I’m not male, nor female, this please know.
I’m simply myself, without any such label,
Understand this simple fact if you are able
To go beyond all labels and to see what’s true
About who we actually are, me and you.
If you’re able to do this, you then might find
We’re the genderless Soul, not body or mind.
Ah what a liberation beyond gender labels to be
And to know that actually I’m only just me!
