When From Us Will You Lift This Curse?

By utter falsehoods held captive,

What a tragic way that is to live!

By gross untruths, dogmas depraved,

Vast millions miserably enslaved,

Beliefs that stoke hate, terror and pain

Driving who knows how many insane!

Thus it has been for aeons long,

In Your name such awful wrong!

Most easy, it seems, it is to beguile

Men with teachings false and vile,

These all invented in Your name,

Across the world much the same,

Millions of lives in this way destroyed

By doctrines of truth fully devoid,

Yet championed boldly, posing to be

Your holy message for humanity.

So much strife, and so much hate,

Playing havoc with mankind’s fate,

All this caused by abundant lies

Parading in seeming holy guise.

When from us will You lift this curse

Of beliefs in Your name most perverse?
