Wherever You Decree

Where I should go and where reside:

This I hand over to You to decide.

You decree where I must be or go,

For, where’s best for me You alone know.

I once wished I could widely traverse

Places on Earth, most distant, diverse.

How I dreamt of travelling far and wide,

Seeing much of this planet before I died!

It was as if my being on Earth, here,

Was just to be a roving tourist mere.

Visiting much of Your world as I could

Was my life’s purpose as I then understood.

And with Your grace, many places I’ve seen,

To much of Your Earth I’ve already been.

But there’s still much left where I wanted to go,

Till now, though, this hasn’t happened so.

Is it the case that I won't ever get to see

The many places where I wanted to be?

This You alone know—and all I can say

Is “In this matter, please have Your way.

You keep or take me wherever You decree,

And wherever that is, I know is best for me.”
