Who are we, we beings on Earth,

Where each's made to take birth,

Here just a while to be and stay,

Then soon being called away?

Maybe we each are just a thought

In Your Mind that You have wrought,

Or each of Your book a single page,

Or an actor on Your cosmic stage.

Each comes and then swiftly goes,

Why this is so none truly knows.

Some say to Earth we’ll soon return,

Others that Hell or Heaven we’ll earn.

To various theories people cling

For the solace these might bring.

Are these true or just make-believe,

Invented for our anxiety to relieve,

Since human beings crave to know

What happens when from here we go?

Wherever on death us You’ll send

To know for sure I can’t pretend.

Perhaps we'll simply disappear

If each of us is a thought mere

That You project from Your mind

For a brief while and then rescind,

Vanishing on being by You ‘unthought’.

Now, tell me please, is this so or not?
