A Lovely Way to Begin a New Day!

Early morning I hear the alarm clock ring,
Into a brand new day me You then bring.
The first thing after that I generally do
Is to take Your name and to greet You.
I continue thereafter to lie in my bed
While I chat with You, all in my head.
There’re some standard things that I then say,
Such as requesting You to please bless our day.
For all that You’ve given us, thanks I express,
And ask You to handle a challenge or duress.
That You'll keep us in Your protection I also pray,
And ask that You'll guide us all through the way.
I pray that You’ll bless the work You’ll make us do
(Even how we’ll this day use our smartphones, too!).
With Your love I request You our hearts to fill,
And to make us be all day just as is Your will.
I ask also for forgiveness for wrongs we have done
(All this I do not very somberly, but in childlike fun!).
After a few more things I’ve asked and said,
I slowly get up from the comfort of my bed,
And a short while later, I’m fresh and done.
This, briefly put, is how my day I’ve begun.
Now, tell me please, isn’t this a lovely way
To wake up to and begin every new day?

Good poem God bless the poet!
It’s a beautiful testament to life’s quiet, transformative moments.
