Don't Forget to Pay THIS Rent!

Oh what a beautiful way it is to live,

To the world goodness continually to give.

A loving thought or deed or word,

For a human, beast, plant, or bird,

A friendly nod, a ‘hello’, just a smile,

‘Little’ such acts every once in a while.

Through such things one well could

Contribute to the world’s overall good.

Good deeds can be of vaster scale, too,

Whatever the good one is able to do,

All such actions, be they big or small,

Add to the stock of goodness overall.

Such deeds done are the rent we pay

For being permitted on Earth to stay.

May we never forget this rent to pay,

Through acts of goodness every day.
