At Last, I Found My Guide, Within!

The guide that is the Inner Voice,

For me full well it does suffice,

On its guidance I can rely,

Knowing it won’t ever lie.

From others, too, I can learn,

They also can help me discern.

Wisdom abounds all around,

So, take it wherever it’s found.

But all said and done, finally,

What the Inner Voice says to me

Is what I know is most reliable,

Being whispers from The Infallible.

I was reared to think I should turn

To ‘great’ men and books to learn,

To be told by them what to do,

And so it was them I looked to,

Seeking them for their advice,

Taking them to be most wise,

Thinking they knew what's best,

And so being far above the rest.

Many years I wasted in this way,

Blindly believing what they’d say.

Of the Inner Voice nothing I knew,

Nor did others around appear to,

The Silent Guide that resides in all,

In every being, be they big or small.

But one day I came to know

That this is really indeed so,

And so I began to turn within,

Shutting off the outside din.

I heard a voice within speak to me,

Silently, but also with full clarity,

Telling me what to do and say,

Guiding me thus along my way.

And so, at last I found my guide,

Within myself, lying deep inside!
