Genderless Me!

You ask me, ‘Are you woman or man?’
I say, ‘Guess, my dear, try if you can!’
A gender to me you so want to assign,
But why by any should I myself define?
Gender’s of the body, but the body I'm not,
And so to say I’m of a gender I just cannot.
‘My’ body might have a gender, but not so me,
This, plainly put, is obvious, most clear to see.
The real ‘I’ is Awareness, Pure Being one can say,
No name you rush to stamp on it can really stay.
Not of any gender, nor any other such identity,
It’s the ‘I’ with no labels, of the purest sanctity,
The One ‘I’ that all beings and things pervades
And lives on forever while everything else fades.
