It’s All I Need to Know

How much longer will You keep me here?

As long as is best for me, isn't it, Dear?

It's been quite a while, as You know,

A little less than sixty years or so,

Will it be five years more, or maybe ten?

Won't You now please tell me until when?

I know You’ll conceal this right till the end,

This being the case, why should I pretend

That somehow I’ll be able to make it to be

That how much longer You'll reveal to me.

I wish I knew, but I know You won’t say,

For You’re so used to having Your own way,

In this little matter, and in everything else too

Of things hidden from us known only by You.

So, don't tell me if that be Your will,

All I know is that I’ll stay here until

You decide that I should return to You,

Whenever that may be, this You will do.

No matter how much longer, it’s all I need to know:

That sooner or later, one day back to You I will go!
