Kiddy Tales for Grown-Olds!

Each day’s work You assign to one and all,
Some to do ‘big’ things, others things small.
To some folks, now quite silly this might look,
But today You want me to read a kiddy book!
You decided that this book today I must read,
“Thank You”, I say, it’s a great delight indeed!
It may have tales of elves, and of fairies as well,
Of goblins, gnomes and pixies perhaps it’ll tell,
And witches and their spells, clever wizards also,
To magic places on their brooms they might go!
Who knows what mischief they might get up to,
And the wondrous things they might all day do!
Adventures they may have, pranks they may play,
Having enormous fun all through each new day!
So what if I’m almost sixty, and so they say I’m ‘old’,
I’ll read this kiddy book as this is what You’ve told.
Ah, these fun-filled books are really such a delight,
Telling of a world far from the one that’s in sight,
In which one can get lost and there forever stay,
In a most distant realm, being so far carried away!
May all grown-olds read such books, this now I pray
(At this my suggestion, what might You have to say?).
If they do so, maybe there’ll be more fun and mirth
On this Your tired and heavily-laden Planet Earth!

This made me smile and remember: joy needs no justification.
