Maybe To This You’ll Agree

You tell me that I must consent
To a book you say God has sent,
And firmly believe it to be
God’s revelation to humanity,
And that if this claim I reject,
I’ll then just have to expect
To be sent by God off to Hell,
In its fires forever to dwell.
To your ranting, what can I say?
You may believe what you may,
Even what I see as foolish lies
Couched in seemingly ‘pious’ guise,
But since I know they aren’t true,
I’m just not going to follow you.
Along with this, I’d like to add:
For you, I truly feel very sad,
Made to believe from childhood
In what I clearly see as falsehood,
Wasting thus almost all your life
In beliefs based on lies and strife.
No wonder your life’s such a mess,
The reason is not hard to guess:
It’s mainly the beliefs you hold,
That’ve caused you misery untold,
So, this to you I would advise:
Drop at once all those lies,
From false beliefs be set free,
Maybe to this you will agree.
