Mindful Uttering, Not Mindless Muttering!

It’s best to be silent, and to talk only when

One truly, really needs to—yes, only then.

Much joy is there in wordless silence to be.

Try it for yourself if you don’t believe me.

If from useless blabber we set ourselves free,

It would be a great blessing, you may agree.

It would save our time, and our energy, too,

Sparing them for other, worthier things to do.

We can thereby precious moments conserve,

And employ them far better purposes to serve.

Talking more than needed can be a great strain,

Vomiting words habitually can drive one insane.

A single word that’s spoken beyond one’s need

Might easily get one into great trouble indeed.

A word foolishly emitted can land one in a mess,

So, rather than more, it’s often better to talk less.

May we mindfully utter each word we’re led to say,

And maintain this awareness right through the day!
