On Parenting & Children: Some Things to Think of

1. Do things with your children, not just for them.
2. Have children only if you are enthusiastic about spending enough quality time with them.
3. Encourage your child to have at least one creative hobby.
4. Ask your child for their opinion on things. It will help them grow in confidence and wisdom.
5. Love is the basic recipe for a happy home.
6. Don’t expect schools, TV or Smartphones to do for your children what you ought to be doing for them.
7. Clearly tell your children, every now and then, that they must share their fears, if any, with you as soon as they may arise.
8. May your children never hesitate to share anything with you. That’s a mark of a good parent.
9. Listen to your child, rather than simply forcing them to listen to you.
10. To give no ethical guidance to your child is as bad as misguiding them.
11. Discuss with your children about their dreams, and also their fears.
12. Teach your children good manners first, and only then things like mathematics.
13. Discuss the issue of sexual desire with your children when they come to the right age.
14. The love that drives a bird to pick up a twig for the nest it is building for its as yet unborn offspring is the same love that drives the continuous expansion of the vast (and possibly already infinite) Universe.
15. Why did God make us? Possibly for the very same reason that many people want to have children.
16. We will always remain children—of God—no matter how old we become.
