The one way I know in order to remain sane

Is to repeat Your Name over and over again.

Any of Your numerous Names will here do,

The point is to keep the mind focused on You.

 

True peace is to be had in remembrance of You,

Repeating Your Name is an easy way this to do.

You and Your Names: not different from each other,

Innumerable are Your Names, Divine Father-Mother!

 

The mind loves to wander, to go here and there,

To remain in silence it just doesn’t seem to care,

If allowed to stray, even madness it could cause

If one does not bring it to a firm, effective pause.

 

The best method I know and that I recommend

The mind’s mad wandering to effectively mend

Is to repeat any Name of Yours incessantly,

Whenever one can, wherever one may be.

 

Chanting Your Name regularly through the day

Is for calming the mind the most effective way.

It’s also the easiest method that I have found

To remain centred firmly on You all day round.

 

Chanting aloud, in whispers, or in the mind:

What an easy way for one with You to bind!

It can be done at any time and in any place,

A cost-free method, bringing instant solace.

 

There’s no need elaborate rituals to perform,

Or long, convoluted prayers in a fixed form,

Or to go on a pilgrimage to connect with You,

Simply chanting Your name this work will do.

 

Chanting Your Name, breathing in and out:

A joyful way communing with You, no doubt.

 To silence the forever jumping monkey-mind

A simpler method one can scarcely ever find.

 

Let one try this out for themselves and see

How comforting chanting Your name can be!

Repeating Your Name, in the day and at night:

Oh such a joy, a truly unsurpassable delight!
