What Should I Do With the Next Moment?

How would you like me to spend

The next moment that You may lend

To me—With it what should I do?

Please tell me, I request You.

Every moment that You make me

Here on Earth continue to be,

How should I spend each new one?

Make it be as You’d have it done.

I’ve no idea, I just can’t say,

How to use it in the best way.

You know better, so tell me how

To use the moment You’ve given me now,

So that each day, week and year—

The rest of my life on Earth here—

Is spent in the way that's best

And in the end I pass the test

That You’ve placed me here to face,

Excelling in it with Your grace.

I’m not here forever to stay.

One day, You’ll carry me away.

Until then, make me in the best way live

Each new moment that You may give,

So that when You take me from here

I’ll have nothing at all to fear,

Knowing that the time You gave to me

Was spent in a manner quite worthy.
