Whatever in Your Great Wisdom You Choose to Decree

There’s nothing at all that I really want to do.
I hand over the task of all doing fully to You.
Oh but perhaps this is just another illusion, too,
If all ‘my’ doings have always been done by You.
Maybe it’s always been so that no deed I ever did,
And from the very start from doing me You forbid,
And that You in Your wisdom arranged for it to be so
That all ‘my’ deeds You’d do without letting me know,
So that if my leg moved, it was You who made it to,
Ideas in my head: it was You thinking them through,
And all that manifested through this ‘my’ body-mind
Was done actually by You, by You carefully designed
(That’s what I’d expect if You’re truly the All-Powerful,
And so alone possess power to do, oh how wonderful!).
An onerous burden removed, what a great blessing
To be rescued at long last from the illusion of doing!
How comforting it would be if nothing I did or can do,
And that all of ‘my’ deeds were actually done by You,
So that ‘praise’ and ‘blame’ solely belonged to You,
And with both I would have nothing whatever to do!
If You insist on doing it all, what better can there be,
The illusion of doing gone, what a huge relief for me!
I’m not sure what the reality is, but I do hope it is true
That the one doer of all deeds is none other than You.
Whatever be the truth of it, I now earnestly request
That You do all ‘my’ deeds and so let me be in rest.
Do through this body-mind which I misidentify as ‘me’
Whatever in Your great wisdom You choose to decree.
