And This as ‘History’ We Call

History is but His-Story,

'Delightful' and also 'gory',

An account of what He did,

Both 'sublime' and 'sordid',

From the very start of Time,

Maybe for no reason or rhyme,

Or a purpose only He knows

(This being what I suppose),

Through many of His forms,

So to us His-Story informs.

If the truth we come to know,

We’ll find it's just His show,

Perhaps His powers to display,

While He exercises His sway,

So, causing episodes to occur

To which History books refer,

Including war and conquest,

And spells of peace and rest,

A lengthy chronicle of events

That He on His own invents

And performs on Earth’s stage,

Engaged thus from age to age,

And this as ‘History’ we call,

Events of which He does all.
